Message from the Chairman

Well, Salomon Summer Race season now over. The final race was at Snowtrax and in true form Snowtrax and Team Snowtrax ran a day that went like clockwork.

After 6 races with the introduction of Bowles ski slope as well, only 4 races count for points so anyone that had a bad day can afford to drop a race on points, makes it more fun like that.

A big thanks to Snowsport South committee. Brian Davis ( Vice Chairman), Helen Schmidt (Treasurer), Mary Calvert( Communications Officer) and David Hathway (Secretary), who all have put a lot of work in behind the scenes to make this season an outright success.

We thought we would add a small competition in the dinner break at Snowtrax. So we held a short swing comp with a random number of the closest to 23 Short swings for the intermediate racers but the end result of 146 short swings which went to Gareth Miller.

A massive thanks to our sponsors Salomon for supplying over £3000 worth of prizes. Ski Bartlett for gift vouchers and Racer Ready. Without their sponsorship the series would be at a loss. So once again many thanks from the Committee and all the racers that won a prize in the end of season presentation.

The final presentation was held after the race at Snowtrax. While we waited for the results to be collated for the final presentation, we held a quiz which went down well with all and a £50 prize for the winning team. But would like to know which team guessed my weight at 18.5 stone!!! Fastest boy went to Chris Evans from Aldershot. Fastest girl Nikki Vale from Bromley who received £50 each.

Under 11 team cup was won by Snowtrax, second was Aldershot. 16 & under went to Aldershot with Snowtrax second and the same result for the open Championship Aldershot 1st, Snowtrax 2nd.

We also presented a plate to Gareth Miller from Berkshire for his outstanding contribution to Snowsports.
